home

Five years after my last project was published, I am finally ready to present new work. My new project titled “home” is a series of self-portraits, shot in 2024.

It feels awkward, terrifying and at the same time exciting to be able to finally share a new body of work. The last five years have been interesting, to say the least. If you follow me on social media, you might have seen that during this time I took a break from my conceptual work and turned to digital art, creating magical realities for my two children and myself. However fun and fulfilling that has been, my true love has always been conceptual photography.

After “we are the dead” I planned to take a short break from photography to focus on my family, as I was expecting my second baby. A series of hard situations (including a pandemic) left me feeling depressed and utterly uninspired and discouraged.  I battled this by turning to a slightly different form of art and it helped. Lately a feeling has been growing in me that it is time I come back to my true love. In this sense, this project is my way of coming home.

Note: Just a few days before I was finally ready to publish this project, I received news that “home” has been awarded 1st place in the self portrait category at the 24th Julia Margaret Cameron Awards. Needless to say, I am beyond excited and cannot think of a better way to make a comeback!
